Ahhhh, September!
After a nice restful summer, I am so thrilled that fall is here!
This weekend, I have been invited to attend to present at The Writer's Digest Business of Publishing Conference in NYC with headliners like Chris Brogan, Mike Shatzkin, and April Hamilton! Not to mention all the great folks from Writer's Digest like Jane Friedman and Chuck Sambuchino. This is going to be an amazing conference that will just soak attendees with publishing and marketing know-how. Guy LeCharles Gonzalez is going to host a poetry slam on Friday night. Should make for a great weekend of teaching and learning.
And, in case you haven't tuned in, I'm hosting the 3rd Annual Writer Mama Back-to-School Giveaway every day this month. I hope you will come by and check it out, if for no other reason than as an example of how to expand your platform by hosting online events.
When I return, The Northwest Author Series, which I created and host with the help of several local sponsors, kicks off it's third season, as well. I'm very excited to continue to cultivate writing community in the 'burbs where I live (a tiny town of about 17,000) and to draw on the amazing literary talent that is so abundant here in the Pacific Northwest for our presenters. [If you want to start something like this where you live, I talk about how in Get Known.]
So, it's the end of another long workday for me, where I've tried to create synergy with writers, authors, readers, booksellers, librarians, and publishers...and I hope that my small contributions are going to have a big impact down the road-not just for me-but for everyone involved.
I'm confident they will, because positive seeds bear positive results. And this month's articles by our GKG contributors will help you do the same.
Make good things happen,
